Ms Kathleen Martin has over 40 years experience in trauma. She is currently the Senior Director of Trauma Service, UCHealth Northern Colorado. She served as the Trauma Nurse Director at the US Army evacuation hospital in Germany, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center from 2006-2014, the first trauma center verified by the ACSCOT outside of the USA. Prior, she was the CEO of Martin Trauma Associates where she mentored trauma center staff across the USA and internationally. She was also the Trauma Program Manager at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 1990-2001.
Kathleen has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Society of Trauma Nurses for 19 years and as 2000-2001 President. She is former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Trauma Nursing and an ATCN and TOPIC international Instructor, and an active member of TCAA and sits on the Military-Civilian Committee. She is an associate member of the ACSCOT, and one of the original nurse members of EAST. Kathleen currently sits on the American Trauma Society Board of Directors. She is a member of the Pan American Trauma Society and trains Latin American nurses to be Trauma Program Managers while hosting international visiting nurses at US trauma centers. In 2011 Kathleen was selected by US Central Command Surgeon, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and US Air Force to participate in a delegation of nationally recognised experts to complete a military trauma systems assessment of US and NATO military treatment facilities within the combat zone of Afghanistan, traveling to military bases at Bagram, Kandahar, Bastion and Tarin Kowt.
Kathleen has mentored many nurses, developed far reaching trauma PI processes, presented multiple webinars, has over 50 publications and presents education globally for colleagues in England, Germany, Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, France, Sweden, Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Korea, Columbia, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico.
