Associate Professor Abhijit Pal

A/Prof Abhijit Pal is a medical oncologist who works as a staff specialist at Liverpool Hospital and Bankstown Hospital (South Western Sydney Local Health District) and specialises in lung cancer trials and thoracic malignancies. He completed a Phase 1 trials fellowship at the Drug Development Unit, Royal Marsden Hospital in London from 2019 – 2020. He was awarded a PhD in 2024 through the University of Sydney (supervised by Professor Frances Boyle), looking at informed consent for Phase 1 cancer trials and ways to improve equity in cancer research. He was the Winner of the 2025 Improving Equitable Outcomes Award at the NSW Premier’s Awards for Outstanding Cancer Research and is a program lead at the recently established Australian Centre for Cancer Equity, a partnership between CINSW, SWSLHD and the Ingham Institute.
