Clinical Professor Jonathan Williamson is a respiratory physician and interventional pulmonologist who trained in Sydney, interstate and overseas in Heidelberg, Germany. He is a consultant respiratory at Liverpool Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital. His practice encompasses a broad range of respiratory disorders, with a subspecialty interest in lung cancer and advanced airway interventions, including rigid bronchoscopy, cryotherapy, endoscopic valves, airway stenting, cone-beam CT and robotic navigation bronchoscopy.
After completing his specialist training in New South Wales, Professor Williamson undertook a PhD at the University of Western Australia, investigating novel methods of lung imaging. His current research interests include robotic bronchoscopy for peripheral pulmonary nodules, endoscopic ablative therapies for early stage lung cancers, novel therapies for advanced emphysema, bronchoscopic therapy for persistent airleak, genetic analysis of endobronchial ultrasound samples and rapid-access pathways for lung cancer diagnosis and management.
