Dr Kate Short

Dr Kate Short is a Speech Pathologist with a 30-year career in clinical practice (Liverpool Hospital), teaching and early career research (USYD). She leads collaborative, prevention-focused models of care and research for children with communication and developmental difficulties and their families. Models developed within SWSLHD, including Dynamic Early Communication Intervention, Launch to School and Transition to School are now scaling beyond the district. A 2025 NSW Health Allied Health Clinician of the Year, Kate collaborates with organisations such as Mission Australia, Department of Education and Sing&Grow. She has a passion to embed research in practice but also have research with the diverse communities in SWSLHD change practice.
