Dr Lai Heng Foong

Dr Foong is a Senior Emergency Staff Specialist based in South West Sydney who has a passion for Public Health, including Domestic violence, Disaster preparedness, Climate Change and Health, Indigenous Health and the social determinants of health. She has a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A. She is the Principal Research Fellow at the Heat and Health Research Centre (HHRC) at the University of Sydney. She is the current Chair of the Medical Staff Executive Council of SWSLHD. She chairs the Public Health and Disaster Committee of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and the Public and Environmental Health Special Interest Group of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine (IFEM). She is a Keynote speaker, has published in peer reviewed journals and authored chapters in public health and disaster medicine in Emergency Medicine textbooks.
