Professor Fatemeh Vafaee is a leading biomedical AI researcher and entrepreneur specialising in AI-driven drug discovery, precision medicine and multi-omics. She is Deputy Director (Science) of the UNSW AI Institute and Founder of the Biomedical AI Laboratory at UNSW Sydney. Her research has attracted more than $19 million in competitive and industry funding and produced 80+ publications and 30+ AI tools and platforms. Her work has translated into clinical and commercial applications, including AI-enabled cancer diagnostics and AlgoraeOS, an AI platform for drug combination discovery. Prof. Vafaee is the Founder of OmniTx.ai, a UNSW spinout developing biology-native agentic AI for precision medicine and therapeutic discovery. Her leadership has been recognised through the Women in AI Asia-Pacific Award in Health and other national and international awards.
