Professor Minoti Apte OAM

Minoti is a Professor of Medicine, Director of the Pancreatic Research Group and Director of Research Strategy at the South Western Sydney Campuses, Faculty of Medicine and Health, UNSW Sydney. She is internationally acknowledged as a leading researcher in pancreatic pathophysiology and is particularly recognised for her pioneering work in the biology of pancreatic stellate cells and pancreatic fibrogenesis. Her current research spans the pathophysiology of acute and chronic pancreatitis as well as pancreatic cancer, with the latter focusing on novel approaches to treatment targeting stromal-tumour interactions in cancer. She is currently an Associate Editor for Gastroenterology and also served as Editor-in-Chief of Pancreatology for a period of 8 years. Minoti has received numerous prestigious accolades in recognition of her work including a Medal of the Order of Australia, the NSW Woman of the Year Award, the Distinguished Researcher Award from the Gastroenterological Society of Australia, being elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science. Most recently, her seminal work in pancreatic fibrogenesis was recognised by being nominated as the recipient of the 2025 Herbert Falk Foundation Award.
