Mrs Ronda Thompson is a Research Assistant for School of Medicine, Western Sydney University (WSU) and Lead Community Activator for the Western Sydney University Pasifika Preventing Diabetes Programme.
She leads her team in delivering a community framework that is maximising community participation in research, while bridging relationships for stakeholder support, education and health services that have been challenging for the pasifika community to navigate access. Her Samoan cultural influence has been critical to the University in implementing a programme that recognises diverse cultural priorities while upholding the urgency of Diabetes awareness and healthy lifestyle education.
She has led delivery of a train the trainer peer support model across various diabetes prevention projects under the Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Translational Research Unit (DOMTRU), as well as facilitates community engagement across other diabetes and integrated care projects.
