Alison is a research midwife with a Masters of Public Health and joined the Women’s Health Initiative Translational Unit (WHITU) in 2019 after more than 20 years’ experience gained as a clinical midwife and over 15 years’ as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. WHITU is a group of clinicians, midwives, scientists and allied health professionals who share a common objective to improve women’s health through medical research.
The goals of WHITU are to maximise equity, equality, health, and empowerment for all women by creating practices guided by evidence, as well as the lived experiences of women. As a research midwife Alison is collaborating on several women’s health research projects. Her focus is on health literacy, improving women’s health outcomes and their experience of seeking care.
