Paul Gallagher’s professional career has been dedicated to children’s healthcare services within NSW health having over 35 years of experience since beginning his career as a paediatric nurse in 1988. Since September 2022, he has held the position of Clinical Manager for Paediatrics and Neonatology for SWSLHD. Prior to commencing with SWSLHD, Paul was the Nurse Manager of the Newborn & paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS).
Paul believes his career path was influenced through personal experience as his younger sister was born with 26 fractures and was later diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bones). She was a long-term patient of Prince of Wales Children’s Hospital/Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
In 1993, Paul founded a children’s charity (Sydney Kids Committee). The charity has raised over $1.5million for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick since its inception. Paul still remains an active member of the committee and in the Australia Day Honours in January 2015 Paul was awarded an OAM for his services to children’s charities.
