Kate Reakes joined SWSLHD in September 2024 as Director of Healthier Communities. With more than 15 years’ experience across NSW Health in Community, Drug, and Population Health services, Kate brings extensive expertise in advancing health equity and social justice.
Their portfolio focuses on strengthening and promoting healthier communities and keeping people healthy. Kate oversees the District’s Drug Health, Multicultural Services, Oral Health, Population Health, Consumer and Community Engagement and the NGO/Affiliated Health Organisations Units. They also oversee initiatives supporting LGBTIQ+ communities.
They are committed to evidence-based services, fostering a culture of equity, and achieving tangible outcomes across south western Sydney.
Prior to SWSLHD, Kate led cancer prevention programs at Cancer Institute NSW, combining strategic leadership with meaningful community impact.
