Professor Paul Middleton is a practicing emergency physician and epidemiologist, Conjoint Professor of Emergency Medicine at UNSW, Director of Emergency Medicine research at Liverpool Hospital, Director of the South – Western Emergency Research Institute (SWERI) at the Ingham Institute, and is Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at SWSLHD
He founded the Comprehensive Epidemiological Dataset for Research, Innovation and Collaboration (CEDRIC), a world-leading data and analytics platform containing over 25 million patient presentations, 110 million clinical documents, and extensive physiological, pathology, and imaging data. His team develops AI and advanced modelling and analytical methods for big data in emergency and critical care, building on his research at Imperial College, London.
He is Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Journal of EMS Medicine, and has held leadership roles in the Pan-Asian Resuscitation Outcomes Study (PAROS), and the EMERGE global research network. He authored international resuscitation guidelines as Chair of NSW branch of the Australian Resuscitation Council.
