Professor Robert Gorkin (PhD, MBA, GAICD) is Interim Executive Director of
Maridulu Budyari Gumal, the Sydney Partnership for Health Education Research
and Enterprise (SPHERE), an NHMRC accredited Research Translation Centre. Robert
is responsible for leading initiatives that accelerate research translation
and impact across one of Australia’s largest health and medical research catchments.
He also serves as Co-Director (Impact, Innovation and Partnerships) of the
Translational Health Research Institute at Western Sydney University and Executive
Director, Innovation at Eudaemon Technologies. A biomedical engineer and serial
academic entrepreneur, Robert has worked on five continents with leading institutes,
companies, and non-profits. He has contributed to more than 100 publications and
secured major international grants, including support from the Gates Foundation. His
career focuses on advancing emerging technologies at the nexus of social good,
particularly next-generation reproductive health innovations, from proof-of-concept
through to clinical trials and commercialization, while also building frameworks that
connect academia, industry, and health systems.
