The 2020 Health Beyond Research and Innovation Showcase will celebrate a special theme “dedicated to discovery – committed to care’’ and put the spotlight on south western Sydney as a hub of innovation and medical advancement.
The premier event on 3 and 4 June at the William Inglis Hotel, Warwick Farm, highlights the fantastic research leading the world right here in south western Sydney.
The packed program includes local, national and international speakers, information stalls and presentations from doctors, nurses and allied health professionals as well as local high school students.
Northern Colorado, United States, long-serving UCHealth Senior Director of Trauma Services, Kathleen Martin, and brave mother Kathy Kelly, who campaigned for increased community safety after the death of her son Thomas in a random attack, are among the impressive keynote speakers.
South western Sydney’s research champions will also offer insights into their projects with presentations from Professor Grahame Simpson, of the Liverpool Hospital Brain Injury Clinic, nursing educator Dr Evan Alexandrou and Professor of Respiratory Medicine Guy Marks.
I am also excited to see the abstracts from our allied health professionals, nurses, doctors and researchers who drive discovery in our community and enhance our care into the future.
Our diverse region is growing and changing and I am immensely proud that south western Sydney researchers are developing new models of care and treatments on behalf of their patients, consumers and community.
The showcase is the major annual event of the South Western Sydney Local Health District and the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research and I invite you to attend and be inspired by the fantastic research transforming health care in our region and the world.
I hope to see you there.
